Psychosynthesis
Stoneware ceramic drum with apertures on the side and the top. The instrument is based on the traditional Nigerian udu, but made with a technique borrowed from Korean moon jars, in two bowls are thrown separately and joined at the midsection.
The egg-shaped form pays homage to the parapsycholgist Roberto Assagioli who developed psychosynthesis. In his diagram of the human psyche as an egg, he makes the distinction of seven regions, of which only the center region represents the field of consciousness and the top.
Roberto Assagioli’s seven regions of the psyche: 1: The Lower Unconscious, 2: The Middle Unconscious, 3: The Higher Unconscious or Superconscious, 4: The Field of Consciousness, 5: The Conscious Self or “I”, 6: The Higher Self, 7: The Collective Unconscious
